About the Naval Base
The main task of the Naval Base is to create operational sustainability for the naval units, among other things through protected supply logistics to land and at sea. Our headquarters is located in Karlskrona. The unit conducts exercises and operations nationally and internationally. This requires us to operate in various types of environments and situations. As a soldier or sailor at the Naval Base, you are an important piece of the puzzle for the Navy to fulfill its tasks.
For the Navy to sustainably continue securing Sweden's waters and coasts through constant monitoring and preparedness, a robust naval logistics function is required. This function consists, among other things, of the 1st Naval Base Battalion, the Surveillance Company, and the Military Base Karlskrona's Equipment Company.
The battalion, together with the Equipment Company, operates flexibly and unexpectedly along Sweden's coast and must be able to supply naval units both on land and at sea. The logistics supply can consist of mines, sinking bombs, missiles, ammunition, food, technical support, and medical care. All logistics supply is carried out with flexibility, a high degree of mobility, and with its own protection. The support vessel HMS Carlskrona is included in the battalion, whose main task is to create operational sustainability for the naval units.
The Equipment Company also has the capability to support the naval units with towing, assistance, marine work, icebreaking, cargo and passenger transport, underwater and salvage work, diving work, etc.
The Surveillance Company is an important part of the protection and surveillance of the Navy's base areas and warships.
The Training Battalion is responsible for the basic training of conscripted officers, soldiers, and sailors. The activity is a central part of the Navy and ensures that the Armed Forces have well-trained personnel ready to serve in Sweden's defense.
